ELIZABETH RHYNE, MSW, LSW, director of development

​Elizabeth is a Licensed Social Worker. She enjoys working with children, individuals, families, and marriages. Elizabeth received a Masters Degree in Social Work from Aurora University.  She graduated with two certificates, one in Advanced Clinical Social Work and the other in Medical Social Work. She has experience working within the foster care system, with both parents and children, and also has extensive experience working with children diagnosed with ADHD and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She enjoys working with the individual to identify barriers, help them gain the skills necessary to move toward their goals, and ultimately strengthen the client as a whole. She recently completed training in Emotionally Focused Couples’ Therapy with Dr. Sue Johnson and continues ongoing education. Elizabeth believes that a strong marriage is the foundation of a healthy, functioning family and enjoys helping people navigate through difficult times to strengthen both the individual and the couple. Elizabeth is married and enjoys spending time with her family, both of the human and dog variety. In her free time, she enjoys exploring local restaurants and cooking on her own. 


Eric is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with individuals and couples. Eric received a Masters Degree in Social Work from Aurora University, and began his career working with chronically ill individuals adjust and cope with the biological, psychological, and social stressors that come with changes in health. Eric has also spent a number of years working with adolescents as they navigate their formative years.  He has received training in Emotionally Focused Couples’ Therapy (Sue Johnson). Helping individuals maximize their strengths, develop strong relationships, and work through internal struggles that prevent them from reaching their full potential is his passion. Eric is married, and loves spending time with his family, including his wife, daughter and dog Farley. 

Jan Selander, MSW, LCSW, Clinical Director/ counselor

Jan serves as a counselor and the Clinical Director at the Center.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Aurora University. Jan has extensive experience working with individuals navigating relational challenges, whether it is marriage, parent, child, co-worker, or other relationship.  She also works with individuals who wish to strengthen bonds or figure out how manage the unique challenges that sometimes present, such as dealing with a difficult ex, how to effectively co-parent children, or how to blend families. Jan has completed all formal Brene' Brown training (Daring Way approach), is a Level 3 trained therapist with the Gottman Institute, has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples' Therapy (Dr. Sue Johnson), Emotion Focused Therapy for Trauma Survivors, and is skilled in what is considered some of the most successful therapeutic approaches to marriage and relationships. In addition to serving as a therapist, Jan has also served as a pastor, overseeing areas of care and counseling at several mega-churches in the area.  Jan serves as an instructor in the graduate school at Aurora University School of Social Work.  Jan is married and loves spending time with her husband, 3 kids, 2 grandkids, and 3 rescue dogs.

Beth Lawson, MSW, LCSW, Counselor

Beth is a licensed social worker who enjoys working with individuals of all ages.  Beth received a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Illinois State University, a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Rockford University, and a Master's of Social Work from Aurora University.  With more than eighteen years experience as an educator in the public schools, she has particular expertise in working with children, adolescents, and their parents.  Many of the clients she works with are individuals coping with mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar.  Helping her clients to navigate life's challenges is Beth's primary goal in working with individuals and families.  Beth is married and enjoys travel and spending time with family.
